Running to support Change
At 8.30am on Sunday 11th July, when most people were still tucked up in bed, 12 fantastic people met in the shadow of the Duke of York statue in Waterloo Place in Central London.
Despite the other 25,000 runners, the group was easy to spot – they were all wearing the bright white fair-trade organic cotton AFP t-shirts and raring to get to the start line for the British 10k London Run.
In truth, it was just an excuse to wonder the streets of London and see some of London’s most famous and historic sites – beginning near Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, passing St. James’s Palace and Trafalgar Square before heading to the magnificent St. Paul’s Cathedral, the breathtaking London Eye, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and historic Westminster Abbey before finishing on Whitehall, just past the entrance of 10 Downing Street.
After an exhilarating and adrenaline charged run, all our runners finished under 70 minutes! Not bad when the first male Ruben Iindogo ran in at 29.32mins and first female Getenesh Tamirat at 35.20mins.
An incredible £9100 was raised.

Thank you to Supporters of the Art with a Heart exhibitions
In July, AFP held two separate art exhibitions in London. The first was at the offices of Reed Smith, where viewers were surrounded by panoramic views of London and a wonderful sunset; the second was in the bright and modern atrium at the offices of BlackRock.
On view was a range of artwork, including exquisite paintings with hand crafted frames from Jaipur, India, delicate pencil drawings, and pieces from Edwina Leapman and Ashok Patel.
It was also an excellent opportunity for viewers to learn about AFP and our partner organisations in India.
A fantastic £2100 was raised from donations towards different pieces of art. These donations will provide much needed support for our education projects in India.

A special thank you to Reed Smith and BlackRock for enabling us to use their beautiful office space, marketing support and the smooth running of the events. We would also like to thank Meghraj Charitable Foundation for donating the artwork to AFP, without which the exhibitions could not have been possible.
We still have a few pieces of artwork left that are now at a reduced price. Please click here to view. If you are interested in any of the pieces, please contact
