An excellent way of supporting grassroots development in India is by holding a fundraising event in the UK. As well as generating valuable funds for one or more charities, they also help to raise awareness about development issues.
AFP can help you to identify a charity working in a region or sector in India which is important to you. We can help you get in touch with locally-based charities that would usually find it impossible to attract international support.
Fundraising ideas
The event could be a three-course meal, a fashion show, a club night, a speed dating evening, a charity auction or going to work dressed as a Bollywood Star. It’s a real chance to get those creative juices flowing.
Charity selection process
Our careful selection process ensures that you will be supporting an organisation which has the capacity to empower disadvantaged people’s lives. Every penny raised will go towards providing services, improving infrastructure or expanding people’s long-term prospects.

Presentations
AFP can give a presentation about the selected charity and the issues they are addressing at your event. This will help to inform people attending about the work which their support is helping to make possible.
Manage a fundraising campaign
AFP will be building a list of charities which require funding for a specific project e.g. buying a new piece of equipment, building a classroom or starting a new initiative. We require volunteers who are able to design and manage a fundraising campaign in the UK for one of these projects.
The campaign could consist of organising fundraising events, generating media attention for the cause and / or building partnerships between the Indian charity and organisations in the UK. AFP will provide you with lots of creative, administrative and informational support in running the campaign. Therefore people with full-time jobs should still be able to take on the challenge.
