Become a volunteer
We design your placement to suit both you and the needs of the organisation who will host you. In order to get the most out of your experience, we will offer full and structured support before you leave, whilst you are on placement and when you return.

If you or your family have questions before you apply, phone us or arrange a meeting with us. We can put you in touch with previous volunteers who can give you firsthand account of their volunteering experience. For inspiration, you can read the experiences of previous Paropkaar volunteers here.
Application Procedure
The application process involves a written application and an interview during which you will be assessed on your professional skills and personal attributes. The following four criteria are required of all Paropkaar volunteers:
Commitment:
A genuine commitment to volunteering in India, as well as a contribution to social change in the UK. Also to provide useful feedback that will help enhance AFP’s work in India in the future.
Attitude:
Relevant skills and experience, a positive attitude towards volunteering in India and the ability to work well in a team.
Approach:
A culturally sensitive, flexible and non-judgmental approach to working and living in India.
Communication:
An ability to communicate with a diverse range of people to have positive impact
Please note that the recruitment procedure may take up to 5 weeks. This is due to the large volume of applications we receive.
